The announcements of the freebees by the parties in the TamilNadu election campaign is going to usher to a new trend in the way the politcal parties are going to manage their campaign in the rest of the country. Accepted we are a welfare state and should take care of BPL segment... but by giving them color TV and 4gms of gold what are we conveying??... and the DMK cheif openly accepting that these fancy stuff are just for capturing power..
The reforms and subsidies should help the people to elevate themselves in life.. not make them look for more in the subsequent elections.. There has to be a vision in announcing a welfare scheme.. for eg. the mid-day meal scheme.. it just brought it scores of children to school.. for that matter the free cycle and text books scheme.. thousands of students and parents are grateful and this is called vision.. The same thing will become stupitidy if somebody wants to build on the scheme and say that we will send a teacher home to teach the children..(like vijayakanth's PDS scheme). It is the people's money which is being invested on all these things.. so when a scheme is announced they have to come up with the plan to finance the scheme.. instead of just transferring officials the election commision should start questioning these things. To me this is an irresponsible act of bribing the people for vote. Instead of investing thousands of crores in these, why not try and invest this in industrialization and education and provide employment to the same group of people, which will automatically build the financial base(for more reforms!!!) and make the citizens move up the ladder. One suggestion would be to distribute the money to every gram panchayats and let them make the decision of what they want to do with that like laying the road, digging up wells etc.. employ those people who are supposed to be benefited by this scheme.. To some extent this is what the Women Self Employment Group does.. It has borne a amazing result.. just extend this to more people.. lift them up.. please don't push them further by giving these cheap stuff which will get you votes but nothing else.. my 2 cents..

இந்தியர்களான நாம், நேர்மை மற்றும் உண்மை போன்ற மிக முக்கிய குண நலன்களை, சுதந்திரத்திற்குப் பிறகு இழந்துள்ளோம். ஊழல் பெருகியுள்ளது. அரசியல்வாதிகளையும் அதிகாரிகளையும் மட்டும் குறை சொல்லிப் பிரயோஜனமில்லை. வாக்களிக்கும் பொதுமக்கள் பணம் மற்றும் இலவசங்களுக்கு ஆசைப்பட்டு வாக்குகளை விற்கின்றனர். மக்களுக்க ஏற்ற அரசாங்கமே அமையும் என்பது பொது விதி.
சோசியலிசக் கொள்கைகள், உயர்ந்த லட்சியம் உள்ள தலைவர்களால் அறிமுகப்படுத்தப்பட்டன. சித்தாந்தம் என்பது வேறு, நடைமுறை என்பது வேறு. "நரகத்திற்கான பாதை நல்லெண்ணத்தானாலும் உண்டாகிறது" என்பது ஒரு பழமொழி.
பணக்காரர்கள் மீது மிகக் கடுமையான வரி விதித்து அதை ஏழைகளுக்கு பயன்படும் வகையில் செலவு செய்ய முயன்ற சோசியலிஸக் காலங்களில் உச்சக்கட்டமாக 98 சதவீத வருமான வரி விதிக்கப்பட்டது (1971). மனிதனின் இயல்பான குணம் சுயநலம். தனக்கு ஒரு லாபம் அல்லது ஆதாயம் முழுமையாகக் கிடைத்தால் மட்டுமே ஒரு செயலை முழு மனதுடனும், ஊக்கத்துடனும் செய்வான். அச்செயலினால் கிடைக்கும் லாபத்தைப் பாதுகாக்க சட்டத்தை மீற முற்படுவான். அதனால் நேர்மை குறையும்.
அதுதான் இங்கு நடந்தது. வருமான மற்றும் உற்பத்தி வரிகளை ஏய்க்க முற்பட்டனர் முதலாளிகள். அதிகாரிகள் அதற்குத் துணை போயினர். பெர்மிட், லைசன்சு தருவதற்கு லஞ்சம் கேட்டனர் அரசியல்வாதிகள். கடமையை செய்யாமல் உரிமையை மட்டும் கருத்தாக கேட்டனர் அமைப்பு சார்ந்த மற்றும் அரசாங்க அமைப்புகளைச் சார்ந்த தொழிலாளர்கள். லைசன்ஸ் மற்றும் கட்டுப்பாடுகளால் கடுமையான பற்றாக்குறை உண்டானது. சிமிண்டு இன்று எளிதாக கிடைக்கிறது. 30 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன் சிமண்ட் உற்பத்தியில் கடுமையான கட்டுப்பாடுகள் இருந்ததால் கடும் பற்றாக்குறை. கருப்பு மார்க்கெட், லஞ்சம், பதுக்கல், கடத்தல், இன்று கேட்க தமாஸாக இருக்கிறதா? பழையக் கருப்பு வெள்ளைப் படங்களில் வில்லன்கள் சிமிண்ட், சர்க்கரை மற்றும் பருத்தி நூல் பேல்களை பதுக்கி வைப்பர். கடத்துவார்கள்!
கட்டுப்பாடுகள் தளர்த்தப்பட்டு, தனியார் உற்பத்தி வேண்டிய அளவு பெருக தாரளமாக அனுமதிக்கப்பட்டவுடன் இன்று அந்த மாதிரியான தமாஸ் காட்சிகள் இல்லை. உற்பத்தியைப் பெருக்கி, பொருளாதாரத்தை மேம்படுத்தி விடலாம். ஆனால் இழந்த குணங்களை மீண்டும் உயிர்ப்பிக்க பல காலமும் பல தலைமுறைகளும் பிடிக்கும் போல் தெரிகிறது.
சர்வ சாதாரணமாக நாம் அனைவரும் அரசாங்க விதிகளையும் சட்டங்களையும் மீறும் தன்மையைப் பெற்று விட்டோம். அளவுக்கு அதிகமான வருமான வரியை ஏமாற்ற ஆரம்பித்து இன்று அனைத்து வரிகளையும் ஏமாற்றுவதை ஒரு கலையாகக் கற்றுள்ளோம். சாலை விதிகள், மென்பொருள் மற்றும் சினிமா துறைகளின் காப்புரிமை விதிகளை மீறுகின்றோம். திருட்டு விசிடி, மென்பொருள்களையும் பயமின்றி கூச்சமின்று பயன்படுத்துகிறோம்.
வேலை செய்யாமலேயே ஊதியம், தகுதி இல்லாமலும் மான்யம், இலவசங்களுக்காக தன்மானத்தையும் நேர்மையையும் இழந்துள்ளோம். பிச்சைக்காரப் புத்தி மிகவும் அதிகரித்துள்ளது. ஓசியில் கிடைச்சா பினாயிலைக் கூட குடிக்கத் தயாராக உள்ளோம். ஒரு LPG சிலிண்டருக்கு அரசாங்கம் நமக்கு ரூபாய் 200 மான்யமாக, இனாமாக தருவதை சந்தோஷமாக ஏற்றுக் கொள்கிறோம். குறைக்க முற்பட்டால் எதிர்க்கிறோம்...
