Football Fiesta...

Its kind of refreshing to see the amount of enthusiasm the Football world cup has generated in India.. Its such an amazing sport, or should i rather call it an art.. The free spirit of the game just fills your heart with bliss, kind of same feeling you get in a bhajan.. No wonder its the world's favorite sport.. Its terrible that we are not part of this mela.. The potential for the sport is very high here. It just has to be nurtured.. some home grown software companies can invest and sponsor an academy each..
As usual it brings the age old debate of Cricket Vs Football... Its just like comparing apples and oranges.. they both are comletely different.. Cricket is a technical game which brings in lots of parameters on how its to be played.. it has all those marks of gentleman tag associated with it.. It can possibly be compared with Golf or two some extent tennis.. However Football is like flowing water, its a Carnival.. It brings out the dionysian spirit(a feeling u get when u see Dhoni bashing the bowlers all over the park) of both the players and the spectators.. and thats the reason the its popular across continents..

Da Vinci Fiasco....

It has become a fashion for the Indian states to ban the movie DaVinci Code. When the people are allowed to see The Passion of the Christ why not the DaVinci code? Particularly Tamilnadu being one of them where the chief minister boasts about being atheist. Incidentally these fellas are involved in staging lots of plays deprecating Hinduism. It was freedom of expression at that time...Will K.Veeramani oppose this ban? Will Karunanidhi ban the Keemayanam play? This is not surprising at all.. in a country where minority appeasement is at its peak these things are very common. Its a shame that in a democratic country a movie which takes a differnt view of a religion cannot run and of course this perfectly applies to Fanna in Gujarat..
